Happy Retirement Dad

AS DAD EXITS SERVICE TODAY: ACCOLADES TO A LIFE MENTOR
"Retirement is supposed to be a great escape from the stress inherent in most jobs, a time to experience a fulfilling life derived from many enjoyable and rewarding ing activities". This quotation is culled from one of the works of the Canadian author, Ernie Zelinski. It is a germane quotation as it reflects what is happening today. It is indeed a great day which we shall always cherish as you officially retire voluntarily from service, consequent upon the attainment of the compulsory age of sixty in line with the Public Service Rule. Dad! We are proud of you.
As a Pension Officer in the top Government Establishment in the State, I can confidently admit that you are among few Civil Servants whose required Length of Service almost coincided with the required Age in Service. You served your State assiduously and carried out your duties diligently without bias or prejudice. Dad! We are proud of you.
From records, if not mistaken, and I stand to be corrected. You are one among the first few Officers to attain the highest Grade Level in your cadre, and the longest serving Director of Environment in Kwara State Civil Service. As if not all, having passed the required examination for the post of Permanent Secretary, coupled with the rigors of the interview, you weathered the storm and came out standing. Your only impediment is age constraint. Destiny debarred you from being the first Permanent Secretary in your cadre. Dad! We are proud of you.
Looking at your antecedents and pedigree, you were born and raised in a polygamous family where the grundnorm is the survival of the fittest. That did not deter you among your siblings, you stood tall in ensuring that you got the best education life can offer to the extent of engaging in menial jobs, just to cater for yourself, having lost your father at a tender age. This saw you through your Secondary School days and Tertiary education, when your contemporaries wanton frivolously due to youthful exuberance. Dad! We are proud of you.
Your ways of life is an epistle on its own. It is a pity am inept on how to go about it. I can confidently say that throughout my life, I have not met a person of your immaculate status. History has it that you stood distinct among your peers during School days. Many even wonder how your family is coping with your immaculate lifestyle. Hey! You never tolerate any iota of dirtiness. I could vividly remember when you purchased your mazda car, which I later inherited, you will mandate us to clean our shoes before entering, so as to avoid sand in the car. Thus, I confidently submit that you are nulli secundus in terms of being immaculate. Dad! We are proud of you.
Your discipline in relationship is worthy of emulation. I used to soliloquize and mesmerise on how I can lead a decent monogamous lifestyle like yours. Albeit your handsomeness and other wherewithal the Almighty Allah bestowed on you with, you decided to live an emulating life as we never know any mistress with you. Dad! We are proud of you.
According to Isaac Newton, "If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants". What could we have achieved without you Sir? With the meagre salary you were earning then, you sacrificed to offer us the education you could right from Nursery Level till the Tertiary Level. Your impact in our lives can never be over-emphasised. You single-handedly foot my wedding ceremony, even when I was still undergoing my Masters Degree. Daddy wa! eseun Sir.
Dad! You are retiring today. You shall never mourn any of us. We wish you many fulfilling days in retirement. It is often said that there is rest after retirement. We wish you rest full of happiness and mercy. You have touched many lives, especially the lives of of people around you positively, we pray many positive things come your way from today and on your new appointment in service to your fatherland, we wish you all the best of luck Sir.
